Call for volunteers for prelude exhibition in 2014

The Parasophia Office will be presenting the Asian premiere of South African artist William Kentridge’s large-scale installation The Refusal of Time, from February 8 (Sat.) to March 16 (Sun.), 2014 at the former Rissei Elementary School in Kyoto, as a prelude to Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015 (Prelude [Exhibition] William Kentridge: The Refusal of Time).  We will be seeking volunteers to help us operate this prelude exhibition.  If you would be interested in volunteering, please participate in one of the two information sessions below.  Please note that this is not a paid position and that the ability to communicate in Japanese is required.

Please participate in one of the two sessions.

    • Date: November 30 (Sat.), 2013 10:00–11:30 AM
    • Location: Seminā-shitsu A/B, 2F, Wings Kyoto
               Higashinotōin Rokkaku sagaru, Nakagyō-ku, Kyoto

[How to apply]

Application forms will be handed out at the information sessions.  If you would like to volunteer, please complete and submit the form.

* Applications will also be accepted by mail (postmarked by December 8).


[Requirements]

Applicants must be:
  1. At least 18 years old
    * Consent of parent or guardian required for volunteers under 20.
  2. Able to communicate well in Japanese (additional language skills are a plus)
    * Japanese citizenship not required.
  3. In agreement with the purpose of the Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture
  4. Happy to follow the guidelines set down by the Parasophia Office
  5. Able to participate in most or all of the orientations held by the Parasophia Office

[Responsibilities]

Over the course of the prelude exhibition, volunteers will be responsible for:
  1. Providing support for the prelude exhibition as gallery guards, greeters, etc.
  2. Providing assistance in various programs/workshops intended to make contemporary art accessible to all audiences (content TBA)

February 1 (Sat.) – March 31 (Sun.), 2014
