On November 14, the Kyoto Association of Corporate Executives (one of the hosts of the Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture) held the second meeting of their Parasophia Commission.  The commission is comprised of members of the association in active support of Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015, with objectives such as rallying up further support within the association and making and executing plans to attract additional support and visitors from all over Japan and abroad.

The second meeting featured a semi-open lecture by Professional Advisory Board member Noboru Tsubaki (Director, Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Art and Design, Kyoto University of Art and Design).  Tsubaki is especially known for radical works that take audiences by surprise, and for his socio-sculptural activities in Japan and abroad.  Not only is he an artist, however, but also an excellent and highly dedicated educator committed to providing strong encouragement for art students.  In this lecture for these members of Kyoto’s financial community, Tsubaki explained the primary and secondary structure of the art market, and made a powerful appeal for the importance of establishing a primary market in Japan in order to encourage and support young artists in this country.  Tsubaki succeeded in winning over his audience with his piquant wit and his convincing presentation of how the financial community can support contemporary art in their own capacity.

After the lecture, the Kyoto Association of Corporate Executives hosted a closed social event for the members of the commission, with Tsubaki as the guest of honor.  The commission members who participated in this meeting and event have expressed a markedly reinforced enthusiasm for Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015.
