Call for volunteers for Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015

Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015 will be held from March 7 to May 10, 2015. The Parasophia Office and the newly established Parasophia Volunteer Center, which will be run by the Kyoto Art Center, are now making an open call for volunteers who will play an integral role in various aspects of the operational end of the exhibition. If you would be interested in volunteering, please send your application to the Parasophia Volunteer Center (also known as the Parasophia Support Staff Center in Japanese) as instructed below.
Please note that this is not a paid position and that the ability to communicate in Japanese is required.

Please attend one of the following information sessions. (All sessions in Japanese only.)
1. Sept. 21 (Sun.), 2:30–4:00 PM
2. Sept. 29 (Mon.), 2:00–3:30 PM
3. Oct. 11 (Sat.), 5:00–6:30 PM
4. Oct. 21 (Tue.), 7:00–8:30 PM

[Responsibilities]
Over the course of the exhibition, volunteers will play the following roles (please note that the titles given in Japanese may differ from the English):
• Venue operation volunteers*
Venue operation volunteers will assist with greeting and guiding visitors at each venue.
• Volunteer tour guides*
Volunteer tour guides will be trained to give guided tours of the exhibition.
• Parasophia Office volunteers
Parasophia Office volunteers will help the office with mail-outs and other forms of publicity, documentation and more.
*…Multilingual volunteers (in other languages in addition to Japanese) especially welcome.
Volunteers who have prior experience with volunteering in the arts may be asked to act as leaders for other volunteers.

[Requirements]
Applicants must be:
• At least 18 years old
* Consent of parent or guardian required for volunteers under 20.
• Able to communicate in Japanese (additional language skills are a plus)
* Japanese citizenship not required.
• In agreement with the purpose of the Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture
• Happy to follow the guidelines set down by the Parasophia Volunteer Center
• Willing to participate in as many of the orientations held by the Parasophia Volunteer Center as possible
* Applicants are not required but would preferably have internet access and to be able to communicate by e-mail.
* Please note that this is not a paid position (no compensation for your work or travel costs will be paid).
* All volunteers will be enrolled in volunteer insurance at the Parasophia Volunteer Center’s cost.
