In Open Research Program 10 [Lecture Series] Tatsuo Majima “Series Title Under Consideration,” Parasophia invites Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015’s participating artist Tatsuo Majima to deliver a total of four lectures over the course of six months, from July 2014 to January 2015. With less than two months left before the exhibition begins, Parasophia now presents the final lecture in the series.
Since July, Majima has delivered in-depth lectures on “Japanese modern and contemporary art” (10-1: see report) and “art museums, international exhibitions, contemporary art, and art” (10-2), and introduced his own work and delivered a performance in a “two-hour presentation” (10-3), where he also spoke about what he will be presenting at Parasophia. His final lecture in the series, scheduled just weeks before the exhibition, may be considered to some extent his work itself for Parasophia in the making. The title for his fourth lecture is titled, “Piled-Up Mud/Mud Jutting Out: (Two-Hour Diagram On) Kyoto, Parasophia, Ryusei Kishida, and Manchuria.”

This final lecture in Majima’s lecture series will also mark the end of Parasophia’s Open Research Program, in which a total of sixteen lectures, dialogues, and other events have been presented since June 2013.
The Open Research Program will be succeeded by Parasophia Conversations, a new series based on the Open Research Program that began in November 2014 and will continue on over the course of the exhibition.
