Parasophia presents a conversation on Allan Sekula between Satoshi Bamba, Keisuke Kitano, Morihiro Satow, and Osamu Maekawa (The Sekula Reader in Japan) as part of the Parasophia Conversations series. This conversation picks up from the 9th Research Presentation of the Association for Studies of Culture and Representation: Research Panel 1 “Allan Sekula: Between Photography and Text, Image and Geopolitics I” and the related Special program (panel discussion) “Allan Sekula: Between Photography and Text, Image and Geopolitics II”, which were held in Niigata in November 2014.

The Sekula Reader in Japan
On November 8, 2014, Parasophia co-presented “Allan Sekula: Between Photography and Text, Image and Geopolitics” as part of the 9th Research Presentation of the Association for Studies of Culture and Representation at Niigata University. In this panel, professors Satoshi Bamba (Niigata University), Osamu Maekawa (Kobe University), Morihiro Satow (Kyoto Seika University; Parasophia Professional Advisory Board), and Keisuke Kitano (Ritsumeikan University; Parasophia Professional Advisory Board) presented their research as four “Sekulans” in Japan. Their participation in Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015 takes the form of essays based on these presentations, published in Japanese and English in the exhibition catalogue.
