Ryue Nishizawa
In October 2013, Parasophia presented Open Research Program 05 [Lecture] Kazuyo Sejima during Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015’s preparatory stage (read brief report). On this occasion, Parasophia invites Ryue Nishizawa, who founded SANAA with Sejima, to speak about his recent works.
Ryue Nishizawa (西沢立衛)
Architect. Professor at Yokohama Graduate School of Architecture Y-GSA. Born 1966 in Tokyo. Graduated from Yokohama National University with Master’s Degree in Architecture in 1990 and joined Kazuyo Sejima & Associates. Established SANAA with Kazuyo Sejima in 1995. Established Office of Ryue Nishizawa in 1997. Main Awards: 1998, 2006, The Prize of Architectural Insititute of Japan, Tokyo;* 2004, Golden Lion for the most remarkable work in the exhibition Metamorph in the 9th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale;* 2007, The Kunstpreis Berlin (Berlin Art Prize);* 2010, Pritzker Architecture Prize 2010;* 2011, Officier de L’ordre des Arts et des Letters, France; 2012, 25th Murano Togo Prize, Tokyo; 2012, The Prize of Architectural Insititute of Japan,
Tokyo.
