Lecture for Cho-Kyoto 2013 Contemporary Art @ Today’s Machiya in Kyoto

On October 5, Yoshihiro Nakatani (Curator, Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015) delivered a lecture related to our exhibition in 2015 as a special event presented by the Cho-Kyoto 2013 Contemporary Art @ Today’s Machiya in Kyoto art fair. At the beginning of the event, Ms. Megumi Matsuo (Cho-Kyoto Office) announced that the art fair in 2015 will be held to coincide with our exhibition dates, and that the Cho-Kyoto Office intends to work in cooperation with the Parasophia Office. In his lecture, Nakatani spoke about the process of organizing Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015, our curatorial team’s way of thinking, the meaning and intent behind the name “Parasophia”, the Open Research Program as presented thus far, and the history of contemporary art at the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art (our main venue in 2015). The audience expressed an enthusiastic interest in the presentation of a large-scale international exhibition in Kyoto.
